The Russian language is part of the Indo-European language family, and is the most broadly used Slavic language in the world. Russian is an Eastern Slavic language. There are other related languages like Eastern Slavic languages, Byelorussian and Ukrainian. The Russian language was spoken by an estimated 250 million people worldwide, with the majority of speakers from the area formerly known as the Soviet Union. The modern Russian language began to be a language of international significance in the 20th century mainly because of its influence in the areas of science, technology and politics.
The Russian language is the official language in Russia, and one of the official languages in of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Belarus, as well as being an official language of the United Nations.
There few diversifying dialects spoken in Russia, classified according to two groups - the northern and the southern - most people speak a common literary vernacular.

As you can see from the map above. It shows the different concentrations of people living in different regions. For our purposes, we should note that this is not a very accurate measure of different population because not everyone in Russia have internet or computers at home. But this was measured in 2006~2007, so it should be close to the approximate number of people in each region. The total number of internet users is continually increasing.
